Hilda Dokubo Breaks Silence On Wike Visit, Declares Loyalty To Labour Party
Nollywood actress and Labour Party National Women Leader, Hilda Dokubo, has responded to the criticism trailing her recent visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that she remains a member of the Labour Party and has not joined any political coalition.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Dokubo addressed the controversy in a statement shared on her Instagram page, explaining that her meeting with Wike was undertaken in her official capacity as the Labour Party’s National Women Leader.
The actress said she did not visit the FCT minister as an entertainer or as an individual seeking political favours or a new political platform. She maintained that the Labour Party remained her political home and dismissed suggestions that the meeting signalled a plan to abandon the party.
Dokubo disclosed that she had followed the comments, accusations and interpretations circulating on social media since photographs of her visit emerged. She said she initially considered ignoring the discussions but decided to clarify the circumstances to prevent what she described as misinformation and further distortions.
She also rejected claims that she had pledged allegiance to any political coalition, stressing that she had not made such a commitment. According to her, should she ever decide to join a coalition, she would make the announcement publicly and on her own terms.
Dokubo further criticised those who interpreted the photographs from her meeting with Wike as evidence of betrayal or political compromise, arguing that images shared online do not always reveal the full circumstances surrounding an event.
The actress maintained that her visit should not be used as a basis for drawing conclusions about her political loyalty, reiterating that she remains firmly in the Labour Party.
