In a landmark step toward modern governance, the Ministry of Regional Development has fully transitioned into a digital-first institution with the official launch of its Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system. The historic unveiling signals the ministry’s shift from analogue operations to a seamless, intelligent, and fully integrated digital workflow that spans all departments.

The ECM introduces a unified platform for creating, processing, storing, retrieving, and securing official documents. It is designed to enhance collaboration, strengthen accountability, and preserve institutional memory while eliminating delays, duplication, and the long-standing challenges associated with manual record keeping.

During the presentation, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mary Ogbe, outlined the operational framework of the ECM’s Digital Workflow System, explaining how the platform restructures administrative processes and promotes efficiency across all units of the ministry. According to her, the new system reflects a commitment to smarter work culture, transparent governance, and the adoption of globally accepted best practices.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who witnessed the launch, expressed delight at the development. She commended the ministry for embracing innovation, noting that such a transformation is timely for an institution charged with coordinating regional development across Nigeria. She described the initiative as a “welcome advancement” that strengthens the nation’s broader public-sector reform agenda.

On his part, the Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Engr. Abubakar Momoh FNSE, congratulated the staff and management on the major milestone. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to continuous digital enhancement, including improvements in network infrastructure to support the ECM. Momoh noted that the initiative aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda, strengthening monitoring, oversight, and the timely delivery of development interventions across the country.
