Reports indicate that in the past two weeks, suspected herdsmen have launched deadly assaults on five communities in the Bokkos Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least 52 people. On Sunday night, another attack on the Zike community in Bassa LGA left 51 residents dead.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Senator Tambuwal, who currently represents Sokoto South, described the attacks as barbaric and completely inexcusable.
“No responsible society should remain indifferent while innocent lives are being cut short and entire communities razed,” he stated.
“I firmly denounce the recent gruesome killings and destruction in Plateau State. These acts of violence are senseless, heartless, and utterly unacceptable.
“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the families of the victims and everyone affected. I stand with the people of Plateau in this dark hour.
“The Federal Government must uphold its constitutional duty to safeguard lives and property. Our security agencies must respond with urgency and precision. Those behind these atrocities must face the full weight of the law.
“Nigeria cannot afford to continue down this perilous road of bloodshed and impunity,” he concluded.
