In a recent session, the House summoned the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, along with DSS Director General Adeola Ajayi and FCT Commissioner of Police Peter Okpara. This decision came after a motion was presented by Ismaila Haruna, who expressed concerns about the rising crime rate in the FCT.
During the discussion, Haruna shared a personal tragedy, revealing that his aide was killed in a “one chance” incident. He recounted how his aide boarded a one-chance vehicle near the Banex area of Abuja, only for her body to be later discovered on the roadside near Nicon Hill. The lawmaker also raised alarms about the increasing prevalence of kidnappings in the capital.
Wike and the other officials are expected to appear before the House Committees on FCT, Police, and National Security and Intelligence.
