How Much Is ₦200? – Lady Shares Shocking Encounter With Alleged Tout At Apata Market

A Nigerian woman has recounted an alleged encounter with a tout at Apata Market in Ibadan after she declined to give him ₦200.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the woman shared her experience in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she described what happened while returning from the market.

She explained that she regularly encounters people asking for money around the market and sometimes gives them cash when she is able to. On the day of the incident, she said she had already given another man ₦1,000 after he approached her and appealed for assistance.

According to her account, another man later approached her while she was leaving the market and repeatedly asked her to give him money. She said she initially ignored him and continued walking without looking back.

The woman claimed the man became upset after she declined to give him money and questioned why she could not part with ₦200. She said she was surprised that her refusal to give him money reportedly resulted in insults.

She recalled the alleged exchange, saying the man questioned how much ₦200 was and allegedly made a derogatory comment about her appearance.

Expressing her frustration, the woman questioned why she should be insulted simply because she chose not to give out her money.

Her account has since generated reactions online, with social media users discussing the broader issues surrounding aggressive begging, street harassment and the expectations placed on people who decline requests for money.
