The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has unveiled its weather predictions for all states during the 2024 Eid-El-Fitr celebration. Muslims worldwide are observing Eid-el-Fitr between Tuesday and Wednesday, marking the conclusion of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan.
NiMet’s forecast indicates a mixture of sunny spells and thunderstorms across the country during the Sallah festivities. According to the weather outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, certain areas of Yobe and Borno states can expect a sunny and hazy atmosphere on Monday, with a possibility of thunderstorms in parts of Kebbi.
For the rest of the Northern region, NiMet forecasts sunny conditions with occasional cloud cover during the morning hours. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms may develop in portions of Bauchi, Taraba, and Kaduna States.
In the North Central region, NiMet projects sunny skies with scattered cloud patches, and there’s a chance of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Niger, Kwara, and Benue during the morning period. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are likely over regions of Plateau, FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi.
Moving to the South, NiMet anticipates cloudy weather with intermittent sunshine and a possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the morning across areas of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Edo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms are expected in parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Ogun, Imo, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states.
Overall, NiMet’s comprehensive forecasts aim to assist individuals and communities in planning and preparing for the weather conditions during the Eid-El-Fitr celebration.
