Hunter Killed By Residents Who Thought He was A Robber In Bauchi

In a press release issued by the state command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, it was revealed that the incident occurred following a distress call received from Gwallameji. According to Wakil, a group of hunters led by Commander Saidu Musa, a 49-year-old man, were in the area armed with machetes and guns to apprehend an unidentified individual based on a complaint from Ibrahim Lado, a resident of Hajiya Amina Lodge, Gwallameji. However, the residents mistook the hunters for armed robbers and attacked them.

“One of the hunters, Nasiru Adam, a 27-year-old resident of Tani-Yola, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to ATBUTH for medical attention, but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” Wakil stated. He also mentioned that three of the hunters’ motorcycles were burned during the incident.

In related news, the police reported a separate incident on Tuesday, June 2, where a reprisal attack by a rival group of hoodlums known as ‘Yan Tokara’ in Bauchi metropolis resulted in the death of Rabiu Shehu, also known as Rambo, a 21-year-old resident of Muda Lawal, Bauchi. Shehu was attacked and stabbed in the stomach and neck by an unknown person believed to be a member of the rival group in the Bakin Kura area. Despite being taken to the Specialists Hospital in Bauchi, he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The command has directed tactical commanders, area commanders, and DPOs to conduct thorough searches across the state to apprehend the criminals involved. A discreet investigation has also been ordered to uncover the circumstances leading to the deaths of the two individuals.
