In a recent interview shared online, the Nollywood star—famous for films like Ti Oluwa Ni Ile—revealed that at one point, he went as far as pricing his own coffin during a period of deep despair.
He recalled hitting rock bottom while living in Abeokuta, Ogun State, describing a time when he felt completely overwhelmed and uncertain about his future.
“I once priced my own casket when my life was falling apart in Abeokuta,” Odule said. “I lost myself and didn’t believe I could overcome the situation.”
The actor also disclosed that his colleague, Olaiya Igwe, was present during that difficult moment. According to him, Igwe became emotional and broke down in tears after witnessing his state.
Born in 1959 in Ile-Ife and originally from Oru Ijebu in Ogun State, Dele Odule has built a long and respected career in the Nigerian film industry since the late 1980s. Over the years, he has featured in numerous stage and screen productions and also served as President of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
