The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has strongly criticised the outdoor campaign fees introduced by the Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The agency recently announced that presidential candidates would pay ₦200 million to display campaign materials across the state, while governorship and senatorial candidates would each be required to pay ₦150 million. It also fixed ₦50 million for House of Representatives candidates and ₦20 million for those contesting House of Assembly seats.

The new rates were unveiled on Wednesday in Aba.

Reacting in a video shared on her social media page on Thursday, Ogala described the charges as excessive, questioning how candidates without wealthy political sponsors were expected to afford them.

The actress-turned-politician said she had no political godfather who had amassed public funds to bankroll such expenses and warned against any attempt to remove her campaign materials.

“People are dying in hospitals. Workers are suffering, and many have not been paid their salaries, yet you’re asking a governorship candidate to pay ₦150 million. Where am I supposed to get that kind of money?

“Do I have a godfather who stole government money to fund my campaign? I dare anybody to touch my billboard. If that’s the case, then all of us will campaign in this state without billboards,” she declared.
