Kamo State Speaks Out On Funke Akindele Feud, Reveals What Really Happened On Set

Speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba on Wednesday, Kamo State explained that speculation about a rift arose simply because they are no longer seen together as frequently, a situation he attributed to their increasingly demanding careers rather than any personal disagreement.

He revealed that he had admired Akindele long before they met, describing her as one of his biggest inspirations in the entertainment industry.

According to him, their first encounter was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa, where her warm reception and kindness left a lasting impression, prompting him to start calling her “mummy.”

Kamo State said his dedication on set later earned Akindele’s confidence, leading to roles in some of her other productions, including Ayetoro and Behind the Scene, which further strengthened their professional relationship.

“Before I met her, she had always been a role model to me. I admired her so much. The first time I saw her was on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy.

“We’re still together and even closer now. She’s currently occupied with her December project, while I’ve also become busier with my own engagements. In fact, her prayer has always been that I continue getting more opportunities to work. There is no quarrel between us, so people shouldn’t create stories where none exist,” he said.
