Recently, social activist Very Dark Man (VDM) released an audio recording in which Bobrisky purportedly claims that Nigerian singer Falz reached out to him, stating that Falana could help facilitate a presidential pardon for 10 million naira, which would clear Bobrisky’s criminal record.
In response, both Femi Falana and his son Falz demanded an immediate retraction of the statements made by VDM, along with a public apology to be issued across all of VDM’s platforms within 24 hours. However, VDM countered that he had not defamed the Falanas but merely sought to highlight the audio recording for relevant authorities to investigate the claims made by Bobrisky.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, October 3, Falana emphatically denied having any communication or meeting with Bobrisky. He revealed that if a satisfactory retraction and apology are not provided, he intends to initiate civil proceedings.
“Bobrisky never spoke to me; I have never met him. I do not know him from Adam. He was alleged to have spoken to my son, Folarin (Falz). Yes, my son mentioned that Bobrisky appealed for assistance and called him on May 4 this year, requesting N3 million to be placed in a special area of the prison known as the VIP section,” Falana explained.
He continued, “My son asked him if he was calling with the authorization of the superintendent of prisons. Bobrisky replied no and requested not to be called again, stating he could not assist in bribing the prison authorities. This was the last interaction. Now, someone has started releasing tapes and defaming me by claiming that I had spoken to him.”
Falana expressed his determination to restore the integrity of himself and his son, stating, “We are not filing a criminal complaint; we are embarking on civil proceedings to protect our integrity. We want to make an example of this case. We have requested a retraction and an appropriate apology, and if we do not receive one that we find acceptable, we will certainly initiate civil proceedings in court.”
