Kalu made the comments on Thursday during a New Year visit to Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, at Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area. He acknowledged that Tinubu is aware of the current hunger in the country and urged Nigerians to be patient as the president navigates these tough decisions.
Kalu admitted that, were he in Tinubu’s shoes, he might not have had the courage to implement such drastic measures, emphasizing that the president is encouraging Nigerians to start fresh. He expressed personal sadness over the situation and called on the public to show understanding during this challenging time.
“I might not be bold enough to take such decisions if I were the President, as he is urging Nigerians to begin anew,” Kalu said. “But we will soon see the big light at the end of the tunnel.”
Kalu also mentioned that his visit to Okoro-Emegha was an annual tradition, one that strengthens their political relationship. He referred to Okoro-Emegha as his political son.
In response, Emegha expressed gratitude for Kalu’s visit, reaffirming that their bond will continue to grow stronger.
