‘I Need To Talk More On The Pitch — Caicedo Opens Up On Chelsea Leadership Challenge

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has pledged to improve his communication with teammates as he continues developing his leadership qualities under manager Xabi Alonso.

The 24-year-old Ecuadorian international returned to Chelsea’s starting line-up after a brief injury lay-off and helped the team secure an emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.

Caicedo, who is part of Chelsea’s leadership group, acknowledged that becoming more vocal on the pitch remains an area he needs to improve as he seeks to justify the confidence placed in him by Alonso.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the midfielder expressed his determination to continue growing under the manager, stressing that he wants to demonstrate why he has been trusted with greater responsibility within the squad.

Caicedo admitted that several coaches had encouraged him to communicate more during matches, noting that although he possesses leadership qualities, speaking frequently does not come naturally to him.

He explained that when he finds it difficult to lead verbally, he tries to make a greater impact through his performances and actions on the pitch.

The Chelsea midfielder also credited former club defender Thiago Silva for influencing his understanding of leadership. He praised the Brazilian for consistently supporting and guiding teammates, describing his approach as an example for other players to follow.

Caicedo said being included in Chelsea’s leadership group was a source of pride for him and his family, adding that he valued the opportunity to lead by example.

Although he acknowledged that communication was an area for improvement, the midfielder maintained that his work rate, performances and attitude could also inspire his teammates.

Chelsea will face Everton on Saturday, with Caicedo expected to remain an important figure in the team following his return from injury and his contribution to the convincing win over Bournemouth.

The midfielder’s comments underline his ambition to become a more complete leader at Chelsea as he works to strengthen his influence both on and off the pitch.
