I Realized — Lady Shares Shocking Outcome After Giving Neighbour Free WiFi Access

Published

A Nigerian lady identified as @official-QV on X, formerly known as Twitter, has shared a surprising experience after discovering that a neighbour she had been allowing to use her WiFi for free was allegedly charging other residents for access.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the lady said she purchased an Airtel WiFi router capable of connecting up to 32 devices and decided to give her female neighbour access after the neighbour complained about the high cost of monthly internet subscriptions.

The arrangement reportedly continued for several months until the lady’s sister visited and attempted to connect to the WiFi. She said her sister was unable to gain access because the router had already reached its maximum capacity.

Curious about the situation, the lady said she made inquiries among the tenants in her compound, which consists of four flats, to find out the internet service providers they were using.

According to her account, the inquiry led to an unexpected discovery. She alleged that the neighbour she had been allowing to use the WiFi for free had been charging two other tenants ₦12,500 each every month for access to the same connection.

The revelation reportedly left the lady surprised, as she had provided the neighbour with access at no cost.

Following the discovery, she said she decided to change the WiFi password to prevent further unauthorised sharing of the connection.

The incident generated reactions online, with several users expressing disbelief that the neighbour allegedly turned someone else’s free internet connection into a source of personal income. Others advised the lady to secure her network and move on from the incident.
