Aisha Yesufu, a well-known social critic and staunch supporter of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has opened up about her decision to vote for former President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a post shared via her handle on Monday, Yesufu revealed that her vote for Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) was largely influenced by her admiration for Buhari’s running mate at the time, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
“The reason I voted for APC in 2015 was because of Prof. Osinbajo,” she wrote. “It wasn’t until February that I finally reconciled with the idea of voting for General Buhari — the same man I swore never to support again after the post-election violence in 2011.”
Yesufu, widely recognized for her active role in political discourse, noted that while Buhari had a reputation for delegating responsibilities, she was ultimately disillusioned by Osinbajo’s lack of impact as Vice President. According to her, Osinbajo, despite his promise, ended up as a “toothless collaborator” in the Buhari administration.
“A Vice President is worse than a spare tyre. It’s like the spare tyre you leave at home,” she said, expressing disappointment in Osinbajo’s limited influence.
She also commented on the rising interest in former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, comparing the current political sentiment to how ex-President Goodluck Jonathan unintentionally elevated Buhari during his tenure.
