I Won’t Be Used For Empty Power Grabs!” – Pat Utomi Slams ADC’s Coalition Agenda

Utomi cautioned that the alliance would ultimately fail if its sole objective is to win elections rather than bring about meaningful national transformation.
Speaking during an interview with Arise News on Tuesday, Utomi confirmed his participation in the coalition but stressed that lasting change requires more than assembling well-known political figures.
“If the only goal is to win elections, then it’s not worth my time,” he stated, noting that many individuals in the coalition had previously contributed to the very challenges they now claim to want to fix.
He further remarked that politics should not be driven by vengeance or the pursuit of power for its own sake, but must instead foster a culture where thoughtful ideas lead to action.
While acknowledging the coalition’s potential as a redemptive platform, Utomi warned that it must go beyond empty rhetoric and demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
“Nigeria is facing a cultural collapse. People no longer believe that ideas can solve problems. Everything is reduced to political dealings,” he lamented.
Utomi added that the coalition must serve as a moment of reckoning, noting that while some members may have contributed to the country’s current state, their sincere effort to mentor a new generation of better-oriented leaders could mark a true turning point.
He urged the coalition to prioritize institutional reform, leadership development, and long-term strategic planning, rather than focusing solely on electoral victory.
“You can’t just ramble your way into power and then be clueless about governance. It doesn’t work like that,” he warned.
