Visa Sh*ck: UAE Bans Transit Applications For Nigerians Amid Tighter Entry Rules
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again tightened visa regulations for Nigerian travelers, including an outright ban on transit visa applications, a decision that could drastically reduce the number of Nigerians visiting Dubai for tourism or business.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This latest directive, issued by Dubai immigration authorities to travel agents, comes less than a year after the UAE lifted a two-year visa restriction on Nigerian citizens.
Under the new rules, Nigerian nationals between the ages of 18 and 45 will no longer be eligible for tourist visas unless they are traveling with someone who meets UAE’s specific approval criteria.
In an even more sweeping policy change, the UAE has suspended all transit visa applications for Nigerians, effectively blocking them from using Dubai as a stopover on international trips.
Travel agents who spoke with Daily Trust expressed concern that the policy would significantly disrupt travel plans, international flight connections, and ticket bookings for Nigerians who rely on Dubai as a key travel hub.
The notice further stated:
“For Nigerian nationals, applicants aged 18 to 45 years traveling alone are not eligible for the tourist visa category.
Applicants aged 45 and above must provide a personal Nigerian bank statement covering the last six months, with a minimum end-of-month balance of $10,000 or its naira equivalent.
These requirements are in addition to standard documentation such as hotel reservations, passport data pages, and more.”
