Ibadan Bye-Election: Senator Alli Delivers Polling Unit Victory For APC

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, secured victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his polling unit during Saturday’s bye-election for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

The Oyo South Senator, who cast his vote at Unit 022, Ward 3 in the Oke Aremo area, delivered a decisive win for his party. According to official results, the APC polled 49 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed behind with 31 votes.

The outcome marked a comfortable lead for the ruling party at the unit.

Speaking after the election, Senator Alli—who also holds the traditional title of Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland—praised the peaceful conduct of the poll. He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for ensuring orderliness throughout the process.

Meanwhile, in Kano, the APC has called on INEC to cancel the Shanono/Bagwai State Constituency by-election and the Ghari Constituency rerun. A statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, alleged widespread violence and disruptions caused by armed thugs.

Morka noted that police operatives arrested more than 200 suspected thugs during the exercise.
