Remanded on January 11, 2024, Oludele, aged 50, is alleged to have drowned the infant in a canal. During the court session, Magistrate Mrs O. O. Ogunkanmi refrained from taking Oludele’s plea, citing jurisdictional constraints. Consequently, the case file has been forwarded to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal guidance.

The proceedings are scheduled to resume on March 4, 2024, for mention.

Oludele faces a three-count charge, including impersonation, abduction, and murder, as presented by the prosecuting counsel, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji. The alleged incident occurred on December 28, 2023, at His Mercy Hospital, Akinyele, Ibadan, where Oludele purportedly took the baby boy without the mother’s consent and drowned him in a canal.

Adedeji further asserted that Oludele deceived the mother and others by falsely presenting himself as a qualified doctor to perpetrate fraud.

The charges leveled against Oludele contravene the Criminal Codes of Oyo State (2000), with impersonation carrying a three-year imprisonment term, abduction punishable by 14 years, and murder warranting a death sentence.
