IGP Egbetokun Unleashes Major Police Overhaul With Fresh Appointments
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Commissioner of Police (CP) Abayomi Shogunle to head the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), Elections Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, and the Safe School Protection Squad.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Additionally, CSP Chima Ogarashi has been named the new Force Marine Officer (FMO).
These appointments were announced in a statement released on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The statement highlighted that these strategic placements are part of IGP Egbetokun’s broader plan to enhance internal security and ensure quicker responses to violent crimes.
Ogarashi’s new role is expected to strengthen security along Nigeria’s inland waterways and enhance efforts to tackle maritime crime.
“CP Shogunle brings a wealth of experience from his background in operations, public relations, and various specialized capacities. As head of SIS, he will address diverse security issues while also overseeing Elections Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation, and the Safe School Protection Squad.
“CSP Chima Ogarashi, with his expertise in maritime security and enforcement of maritime laws, will lead the Force’s marine operations, an essential unit for safeguarding the nation’s waterways,” the statement noted.
The appointments come at a pivotal time, coinciding with the Force’s acquisition of 25 new gunboats and plans for additional maritime safety equipment to bolster security operations nationwide. These strategic acquisitions reflect the Nigeria Police’s proactive stance in protecting lives and property while enhancing confidence in maritime security.
The Inspector-General reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to swiftly addressing security threats and maintaining a safe environment for all Nigerians.
