IGP Kayode Egbetokun, regarding the unwarranted harassment, arrest, detention, and extortion of money by the Crack Squad Team of the Ebonyi State Police Command.

In his petition, Nworie, who serves as the Ebonyi State Correspondent for THISDAY Newspaper, detailed how members of the Crack Squad abruptly entered the shop where he and three friends were sitting and apprehended them.

Despite his attempts to provide identification for himself and his companions, the police officers paid no heed to his explanations and promptly transported them to the state police headquarters.

He recounted the incident, stating, “On Thursday, October 19, 2023, at approximately 7:30 pm, I made a stop at my friend’s shop on the bustling G-hostel Road while waiting for the commencement of a state event at Re-meritona Hotel.

The event was a dinner organized by the Ebonyi State government to honor the members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.”
