Ikorodu City Celebrate As Atata, Adeoye Earn Super Eagles Call-Ups
NPFL club Ikorodu City have celebrated Michael Atata and Aderemi Adeoye after the two players received call-ups to the Super Eagles squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle named his squads for Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as the international friendly against Russia.
Nigeria will face Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29 in their opening AFCON qualifying matches before taking on Russia in an international friendly on October 6.
Atata and Adeoye were included in the 24-man squad selected for the encounter against Russia. Atata was named among the three goalkeepers alongside Stanley Nwabali and Samuel James, while Adeoye earned a place among the eight midfielders selected for the fixture.
The call-ups represent a significant milestone for both players, as they are in line to make their senior international debuts for the Super Eagles. Their inclusion also highlights the growing presence of Ikorodu City players at the national-team level.
Reacting to the development, Ikorodu City took to its official social media platform to celebrate the duo and congratulate them on their achievement.
The club described Atata and Adeoye as its “national team duo” and expressed pride in seeing both players receive recognition at the highest level. Ikorodu City also urged the players to represent the club with pride and make the most of the opportunity with the Super Eagles.
