Taribo compared Rufai’s plight to that of other late Super Eagles greats such as Stephen Keshi, Thompson Oleha, and Rasheed Yekini, all of whom he said were equally neglected after their passing.

He further lamented that Rufai’s family had to beg within their circle just to raise money for funeral expenses, describing it as “madness.”
