Bitter Family Clash: Burial Halted As First Son Insists On Being Settled First (Video)

A retired police officer who spoke at the family compound explained that the late couple, Godwin Nwawere and his wife, had a first son, Uzoma Nwawere, and several daughters, all of whom are married. He claimed that while the daughters thrived and cared for their mother, they neglected and failed to show proper respect to their brother as the first son.

He added that the married daughters, all wed to men from Mbano in Imo State, allegedly colluded with their mother to mistreat Uzoma.

Speaking in Igbo, the retired officer said: “Godwin Nwawere, husband of the deceased, has passed away. They had Uzoma, the first son, two other sons, and five daughters who are married. But the first son was not receiving the respect due to him. All the daughters, married to men from Mbano, conspired with their mother and treated the first son unfairly. Uzoma was living at home ‘on credit,’ which seemed to please the daughters.”

Following their mother’s death, the first son reportedly demanded that his married sisters and their husbands provide a settlement before she could be buried in the family compound, now his by inheritance.

A video circulating online shows a large mound of red earth, presumably the grave site, while a crowd argues loudly beside it, unfazed by the light drizzle and cloudy weather.
