A retired police officer who spoke at the family compound explained that the late couple, Godwin Nwawere and his wife, had a first son, Uzoma Nwawere, and several daughters, all of whom are married. Speaking in Igbo, the retired officer said: “Godwin Nwawere, husband of the deceased, has passed away. They had Uzoma, the first son, two other sons, and five daughters who are married. But the first son was not receiving the respect due to him. All the daughters, married to men from Mbano, conspired with their mother and treated the first son unfairly. Uzoma was living at home ‘on credit,’ which seemed to please the daughters.”
