Speaking during an appearance on TVC’s Politics on Sunday, Bwala defended his frequent criticism of the former Anambra State governor, alleging that Obi had built a political movement that encourages extremism.

According to him, some supporters of the Obidient Movement have exhibited behaviour he likened to political extremism, accusing Obi of failing to take responsibility for their actions.

“Peter Obi introduced into our politics a very dangerous phenomenon. He is building a movement that will be no different from bandits,” Bwala said.

When asked to explain his comparison between Obidient supporters and bandits, Bwala said he was referring to what he termed “political extremism.”

He cited an incident involving an Obidient supporter who came under heavy criticism on social media after meeting Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.

“They are political extremists. These people wanted to eat him alive. When he called their bluff, Peter Obi flew from Lagos and went to meet him. Do you know these people were online abusing him? But when Peter Obi went to meet him, he said it was the opposition abusing him,” he stated.

The presidential aide also dismissed suggestions that he was overly focused on Peter Obi, insisting that his comments were usually made in response to issues raised by Obi’s supporters and media inquiries.

Bwala argued that Obi does not constitute a significant political challenge to President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“Every time, his people are the first to talk, and the media houses ask us to react. But the narrative being pushed is as if we wake up every morning looking for Peter Obi.

“Obi is inconsequential. Peter Obi is not a match for Asiwaju. All the governors who have governed Lagos have done better than Peter Obi. So, Peter Obi is not a match,” he said.

Bwala further accused the former Labour Party presidential candidate of repeatedly distancing himself from the conduct of his supporters instead of taking responsibility for their actions.

“He has never accepted responsibility for the conduct of his people. He has always claimed it is the opposition,” Bwala added.
