Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, disclosed that the anti-graft agency’s personnel will be present in these states to oversee the electoral process.
Addressing reporters in Abuja on Friday, Oyewale explained that the deployment is specifically intended to curb practices such as vote buying, selling, and other forms of electoral fraud.
Oyewale underscored that the monitoring team deployed to Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo will be vigilant against any attempts to manipulate the electoral processes, emphasizing the commitment to upholding the provisions of the Electoral Act.
He stated, “In its efforts to combat electoral fraud and associated financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has mobilized its officers to Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States, where governorship elections are slated for Saturday, November 11, 2023.
The Commission’s monitoring operations aim to address any form of voter inducement, including vote buying, vote selling, and other manipulations of the electoral processes that run afoul of the Electoral Act.”
