Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, conveyed this message while extending congratulations to the triumphant candidates: Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, and Governor-elect Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
In a statement, Isiguzoro stated, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo would like to extend its congratulations to the winners of the off-cycle Governorship elections: Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, and Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State.”
He continued, “We urge the opposition political parties and their Governorship Candidates in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States to accept the outcome of the elections and their respective fates.”
While recognizing the constitutional right of the opposition to challenge electoral irregularities, Isiguzoro cautioned that pursuing such grievances might be futile due to the alleged meticulous concealment of evidence by compromised INEC staff.
The statement emphasized Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s commitment to democratic principles, calling on all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the international community, to collaborate in advocating for electoral reforms that ensure transparent, free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria.
