State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Anugbum Onuoha announced this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Benin on Thursday, focused on the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Onuoha explained that the PVC collection would coincide with the CVR exercise, both commencing on May 27.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu had previously announced the start of the CVR exercise in Edo and Ondo States in preparation for the governorship elections.

Onuoha revealed that Edo has 2,501,081 registered voters, with 2,128,288 having collected their PVCs, leaving 373,030 uncollected.

Both the CVR and PVC collection exercises will span 10 days, from May 27 to June 5, operating daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., including weekends.

The REC detailed that the activities will take place in the 192 wards and at the INEC state headquarters in Edo.

Each registration centre will be staffed by two officials from INEC and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

“In addition to registering voters, the commission will also distribute the uncollected PVCs during the CVR exercise. Note that PVCs will not be collected by proxy; registered voters must collect their cards in person. There will be no pre-registration option due to time constraints,” Onuoha stated.

He urged media, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), traditional rulers, and religious leaders to encourage voters to collect their PVCs.

Onuoha also mentioned that INEC has published the final list of candidates for the Edo governorship election following the completion of party primaries.
