The endorsement came approximately a month after the shadow primary was held in the state, in preparation for the November 16 gubernatorial election.

The aspirants, Morayo Lebi, Dayo Faduyile, Soji Ehinlanwo, Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, and Jimi Odimayo, urged party members to prioritize unity and peace, rather than letting the primary results create division within the APC.

In a statement signed by the seven aspirants, they emphasized that the upcoming governorship election should be the main focus for all dedicated party members.

“We, the undersigned chieftains of our party, the APC, who were aspirants in the recently concluded Governorship Primary, urge all party members with a genuine interest in the party’s success in the upcoming general election in November to embrace peace for a decisive victory in the polls.

“The party’s stance is that His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa is our gubernatorial candidate; this decision should be respected by all, even if some of us have reservations.

“We recognize that perfection is an evolving goal. As party leaders who have significantly contributed to the party’s growth, we must avoid anything that could cause divisions within our ranks, which could jeopardize our unity.

“We therefore call on our supporters and all stakeholders to set aside personal interests and prioritize the collective interests of the party.”
