Receiving the journalists, AbdulGafar Alabelewe of The Nation and AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint newspapers, from National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the minister praised the security agencies for their prompt action in securing their release.

The two journalists were freed alongside Alabelewe’s wife and two children.

Mohammed expressed his sympathy for the families involved, stating, “We are very grateful for your efforts. This is part of the ongoing work to ensure that all kidnapped victims are rescued and reunited with their families.”

He urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the security agencies, emphasizing their commitment to freeing those unlawfully held without ransom payments.

Earlier, the NSA revealed that the five victims were rescued thanks to a coordinated effort among security agencies, resulting in a swift search-and-rescue operation.

In response, Alabelewe remarked, “The rescue mission gave us hope in our country and confidence that the government is serious about tackling the kidnapping issue. I never expected to be freed so quickly, within a week of our abduction.”

He expressed gratitude for the government’s swift action in ensuring their release.
