Ezendigbo expressed regret that despite the significant resources given to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for election conduct, the process often ends up flawed.

He condemned the widespread killings and political violence driven by anti-democratic forces seeking power and urged Nigerians to change their mindsets and adhere to democratic practices observed in other countries.

Ezendigbo, who contested the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria as an independent candidate, shared his views in an interview with DAILY POST on Sunday.

“The billions allocated for elections in Nigeria are wasteful. INEC ends up announcing results that don’t reflect the wishes of Nigerian voters,” he stated. “Why spend huge resources on flawed elections? Why should elections result in deaths and over eighty percent ending in court? We must emulate advanced democracies and make changes.”

He also highlighted the nation’s economic struggles, including insecurity, hunger, food inflation, and naira devaluation, along with the failing educational system and other critical sectors. Ezendigbo called for a change in mindset and approach.

Ezendigbo expressed disappointment in the judiciary, claiming it has failed to deepen the democratic process and noting that Nigerians have lost confidence in it.

“The judiciary needs to be reasonable and considerate. Many Nigerians travel and see how things are done in advanced countries. Why should every election end in litigation? The system is broken. We have the best brains, and if anything negatively affects Nigeria, it impacts the entire African continent. We must come together to make our country work,” he advised.
