Aliyu made the statement during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday.
He acknowledged that some aspirants would inevitably feel disappointed after the party’s primaries and consensus decisions, but urged members who may not secure tickets to remain committed to the APC.
According to him, the party leadership plans to engage dissatisfied aspirants through dialogue, reassurance, promises, and possible political appointments in order to maintain unity within the party.
Aliyu explained that the APC would continue to adopt consensus arrangements in areas where agreement could be reached among stakeholders, while direct primaries would be conducted in places where consensus fails.
Speaking further, he admitted that political ambitions often come with emotional setbacks when expectations are not met.
“Of course, there will be broken hearts. People naturally have ambitions, and when they don’t achieve them, disappointment is expected,” he said.
He added that loyal party members should respect the collective decisions of party leaders, especially when consensus candidates emerge.
Aliyu also noted that political promises are not always guaranteed because circumstances can change over time, even for governors who may initially support certain aspirants.
According to him, some governors may eventually be unable to fulfill political promises due to the influence of other powerful stakeholders within the party structure.
“In our party, when leaders decide that consensus is the best option, we follow that route. Where consensus is impossible, we conduct direct primaries,” he stated.
He concluded by assuring members that the APC is prepared for the challenges ahead and has internal mechanisms to calm aggrieved aspirants through engagement, encouragement, appointments, and other forms of political reconciliation.
