The Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, has alleged that certain individuals are backing the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party in an attempt to destabilize the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview published by Punch on Monday, Ndubuaku addressed the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party and explained why the NLC refuses to recognize Abure as the party’s National Chairman.

He accused Abure of running a propaganda campaign, stating that the truth would soon come to light.

“We are aware of those backing Abure. As we speak, are you aware that the Inspector General of Police has indicted Abure? Have you heard about it?” Ndubuaku questioned during the interview.

According to him, the indictment is recent, but Abure has not yet been prosecuted. He further alleged that Abure forged court documents.

“The indictment has not been overturned. He has not been charged to court despite a formal indictment letter. We are talking about the same Abure who forged court documents. We are waiting to see how the court will rule and whether they will try to impose him on the Labour Party. Even the only governor in his party has rejected him,” he added.

Ndubuaku also dismissed the recent Appeal Court ruling on the Labour Party leadership, stating that it did not affirm Abure’s position. He noted that legal teams are reviewing the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment before proceeding to the Supreme Court.

Emphasizing the party’s origins, he asserted that the Labour Party was founded and owned by workers, making it distinct from other political parties in Nigeria.

“This propaganda machinery that Abure operates can twist anything. Before taking a case to the Supreme Court, you must first examine the judgment itself. Even from what they presented, the Appeal Court ruled that the leadership dispute at the lower courts was merely an academic exercise, meaning it should not have been entertained in the first place,” he concluded.
