Sworn in on December 27, 2023, following the demise of the late former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa pledged in his inaugural address to continue his predecessor’s work and ensure the inclusion of all stakeholders in his administration.

Reportedly, after the swearing-in ceremony, Aiyedatiwa met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, where he received advice to reorganize the All Progressives Congress in the state before selecting a deputy governor. Currently, the governor is said to be consulting on potential candidates for the deputy governor position from either the central or northern senatorial districts of the state.

Despite his official duties, Aiyedatiwa has yet to move into the Governor’s main office at the Government House, as revealed by a source within the Governor’s Office. The source disclosed that the governor continues to operate from his former deputy governor’s office and has not utilized the Government House, except for the Presidential Lodge where he receives visitors. Additionally, the governor’s residential lodge remains unused.

Confirming the situation, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, clarified that the presidential lodge is currently serving as the venue for receiving visitors, while other areas are undergoing renovation. Adeniyan further explained that the Governor’s Office is also undergoing renovation, and once completed, the governor will move into the main office.
