In a letter personally signed by the President, it was stated that this action was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption. Obazee was instructed to collaborate with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to fulfill this assignment.

In addition to the CBN, Obazee is also conducting investigations into the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and other Government Business Entities. He is leading a team with suitable experience, competence, and capability for this purpose.

Nevertheless, sources within the presidency, speaking on condition of anonymity, have disclosed to The Punch that the preliminary report has been submitted for the President’s review and necessary action.

The source further indicated that the interim report contributed to the leadership change at the CBN and is expected to facilitate crucial decisions by the President that will aid the country’s progress.
