Internet Fraud Crackdown: EFCC Arrests 17 Suspected Yahoo Boys In Kwara

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate have arrested 17 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud, commonly referred to as ‘Yahoo Boys.’

The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated sting operation in Ilorin and the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Specific locations raided include Asa Dam, Al-Hikmah University environs, Gaa-Odota in Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo in Ifelodun LGA.

Their arrest followed actionable intelligence linking them to a series of cybercrime activities within the state. During the operation, EFCC operatives recovered luxury vehicles, premium smartphones, and several laptops believed to be tools used for fraudulent operations.

This recent raid follows a similar crackdown last week in which 47 suspects were arrested in the same region, as the commission intensifies its fight against cybercrime.

All suspects will face prosecution once ongoing investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, in a related development, embattled businessman Fred Ajudua has been arrested by the EFCC in Abuja over a $1.43 million fraud case. The Supreme Court recently revoked his bail and ordered his remand, directing the Lagos High Court to resume hearing of the case.
