The controversy escalated when the Kano State Hisbah Board apprehended Sankara last Thursday at an unfinished building he owns in Nassarawa GRA, Kano. Although he was granted bail with conditions for attending subsequent reconciliation meetings, Sankara did not appear on Monday, prompting further legal action.

Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, Commander General of the Hisbah Board, expressed disappointment over Sankara’s absence, believing it obstructed potential reconciliation efforts aligned with Islamic principles. “As Hisbah members, we follow Islam, which encourages reconciliation. However, it seems he is not interested, so we will move forward with legal proceedings,” Daurawa stated.

During the court session on Tuesday, the complainant’s attorney, Haruna Magashi, presented substantial evidence—including videos, photos, phone conversations, and financial transactions—to support the allegations against Sankara and Tasleem. In contrast, Tasleem’s lawyer, Rabi’u Shuaibu Abdullahi, argued that the claims were fabricated to damage her reputation amid a troubled separation from her husband, which involved allegations of maltreatment and abuse.

Sankara’s attorney, Aliyu Usman Hajji, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated attempts to harm his client’s reputation, emphasizing the negative impact of social media on Sankara’s public image and career.

In his ruling, Judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola directed the AIG to carry out a thorough investigation into the allegations, ensuring that no harassment or wrongful arrests occur during the process.
