Investigation Unveils IED Connection In Ibadan Explosion: Photo Documentation By NEMA

According to the Southwest Zonal Office, a distress alert regarding the explosion was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Bodija GRA behind Ace Mall in Ibadan. In response, mobilized agencies were dispatched to the explosion site. Upon reaching the location, NEMA observed that it was a suspected explosion involving an IED, impacting more than 20 houses.

The agency did not provide specific casualty figures, and search and rescue operations were still underway at the time of the report. The operation involved various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Nigeria Army, Federal and State Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross, State Ministry of Environment, and Amotekun Corps.

Additional resources were being mobilized to support the ongoing operations. The search and rescue operation was temporarily halted to allow responders to rest, resuming at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Security measures were intensified in the affected area, and arrangements for further support to facilitate the operations were underway.

The report indicated that the situation was now under control, with ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth operation.
