Powerful asserted, “We have observed with deep concern the deliberate attempts by certain compromised media outlets and social media platforms to link Simon Ekpa with the esteemed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) family.”
“To provide absolute clarity and avoid confusion, it must be stressed that Simon Ekpa is neither a registered unit member of IPOB nor has any affiliation with the Eastern Security Network (ESN).”
Media outlets are urged to accurately represent this reality in their publications moving forward.
Powerful further commented on the situation, “Individuals who label Ekpa as a factional leader of IPOB are either misinformed, uninformed, or potentially following a script laid out by the Department of State Services (DSS), which is his primary sponsor aiming to destabilize the South East region using criminals.”
Powerful continued, “Ekpa’s connection to ESN is non-existent. Although he has exploited ESN’s name for his various fundraising schemes, this doesn’t tie him to the ESN established by IPOB.”
Powerful also addressed Ekpa’s affiliation, “Ekpa has his own relatively unknown group called Government in Exile. His social media videos often make reference to these facts.”
“We remain cautious of the concerted efforts by the DSS and similar agencies to infiltrate, weaken, and divide IPOB, aiming to undermine the organization from within.”
Powerful concluded, “It is essential to reiterate that IPOB remains united, lacks factional leadership, and is not engaged with any entity aiming to tarnish the socio-political environment in the South East. This fact stands firm.”
