IPOB Raises Concerns Over Nigerian Army’s Intimidation And Misinformation Tactics In Kanu’s CaseThe Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused the Nigerian Army of disseminating “fake news” and intimidating judges involved in the case of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Titled “Nigerian Army Should Stop Intimidating and Misleading the Judges with Fake News about IPOB,” the statement alleged that the Army frequently spreads misinformation whenever Kanu’s court proceedings reach critical stages. IPOB contends these actions aim to influence judicial opinions and misrepresent the organization’s activities.
Powerful called on the Army to halt what he characterized as dishonorable tactics, claiming they undermine the military’s credibility. He highlighted that IPOB’s history and leadership are matters of public record and criticized the Army for statements lacking “class, honor, and dignity.”
IPOB questioned the Army’s understanding of Kanu’s role, asking, “Are the media handlers of the Nigerian Army unaware that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the founder and leader of IPOB, especially after they invaded his home on October 14, 2017?”
The statement continued: “We, the noble family of IPOB, wish to highlight the Army’s latest pathetic attempt to influence the judiciary regarding our leader’s upcoming case. The illegal proscription of IPOB will fail, as all previous attempts have.”
IPOB criticized the Army’s claims about Kanu, questioning the existence of a “founding mother” of IPOB, and labeled the military’s actions as unbecoming. They urged the public to disregard what they termed shameless propaganda, emphasizing the need for integrity in the judicial process.
