It Was A False Battle — Felix Morka Dismisses Claims Of Tension Between Wike And APC Governors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports of a rift between its governors and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that both sides remain united in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the reported disagreement as a “false battle,” arguing that there was no genuine tension between Wike and members of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Morka made the remarks on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s News Day, following Wike’s inclusion in the APC Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

According to the party spokesperson, the governors and the FCT minister share a common political objective of securing another presidential term for Tinubu, despite their different political affiliations.

Morka maintained that the inclusion of Wike in the campaign council should not be interpreted as a source of division within the ruling party, stressing that the president’s re-election campaign had brought together political figures with a shared commitment to his victory.

He explained that while the Progressive Governors Forum comprises governors elected on the APC platform, Wike, a former Rivers State governor, serves in Tinubu’s cabinet and has remained an outspoken supporter of the president.

Morka also pointed to the composition of the revised Presidential Campaign Council as evidence of Tinubu’s efforts to build a broader political coalition ahead of the 2027 general election.

He noted that some governors who do not belong to the APC had been assigned coordinating roles in their respective jurisdictions, describing the development as an indication that political cooperation was extending beyond party boundaries.

The APC spokesperson characterised the emerging alliance as a significant development in Nigeria’s democratic politics, arguing that Tinubu was bringing politicians from different parties together to pursue a common agenda.

According to Morka, the president’s approach was helping to reduce political divisions by encouraging cooperation among leaders who might otherwise belong to opposing parties.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the APC’s response seeks to dismiss speculation about internal disagreements as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election, while highlighting Tinubu’s reported efforts to attract support from politicians across party lines.
