It Wasn’t Tinubu! – Falana Reveals Who Truly Pushed Nigeria Into Subsidy Removal

In an interview on Sunday’s Politics programme on Channels Television, the human rights lawyer argued that no nation in the world has completely eliminated subsidies.

He stated, “It is impossible to remove subsidies entirely. Even major Western countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and France continue to subsidise electricity, agriculture, and various other sectors to support their citizens.

“So, when the Nigerian Government announced the full removal of subsidies, in reality, it was the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that pressured the government to take this step,” Falana added.
