It’s Not Fair!” Keyamo Confronts Seun Akinbaloye In Heated Live Interview

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, engaged in a tense exchange with Channels Television anchor Seun Akinbaloye during a live interview on Thursday over questions relating to Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and the recent airport parking controversy.

The disagreement arose on Politics Today when Akinbaloye asked the minister whether the Federal Government had taken politics too far in its handling of allegations that Obi violated airport parking regulations.

“Considering the manner in which the Federal Government handled Peter Obi’s case at the airport, don’t you think that was politics taken too far?” the presenter asked.

Responding, Keyamo challenged the line of questioning, arguing that Akinbaloye had failed to raise the same issue during a previous interview with Obi.

According to the minister, the journalist had spent about two hours interviewing the former Anambra State governor but did not ask him to address the controversy.

“Peter Obi was here a few days ago, and you interviewed him. Why didn’t you ask him that question? It’s not fair,” Keyamo said.

“You conducted a two-hour interview with Obi and you did not ask him about this issue, yet you are asking me.”

Keyamo further alleged that sections of the media apply different standards when questioning government officials, claiming the administration is often treated unfairly in comparison with opposition figures.

As Akinbaloye attempted to conclude the programme, the minister objected, insisting he still had an important point to make.

“You are shutting me down now because you know I want to ask a critical question,” Keyamo said, prolonging the on-air exchange before the interview ended.
