The announcement was made at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, in the presence of national and state leaders of the Accord Party, according to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
Governor Adeleke stated, “I joined the Accord Party on November 6th as a platform to seek re-election in 2026, following weeks of consultation with stakeholders and opinion leaders. Residents and stakeholders of Osun State understand the rationale behind this significant decision. We are committed to pursuing a second term to continue delivering good governance and democratic dividends that have been recognized both nationally and internationally.
“We chose the Accord Party because its mission of welfarism aligns perfectly with our focus on the welfare of citizens and workers,” he added.
Welcoming party leaders into the Government House, the governor said, “You are now part of us, as I am now part of you. We are united in progress and goodwill for the people of Osun State and Nigeria at large. At this historic moment, our responsibility is to maintain a united front as we prepare for the upcoming elections, ensuring an inclusive leadership that considers the interests of all groups.
“Since joining the party, I have been inspired by its philosophy, which places people’s welfare at the heart of public leadership. As governor, I have prioritized the well-being of our citizens—from workers to the general populace—through policies and programs that enhance infrastructure and social services. Osun State has never seen governance and service delivery of this quality before.
“Today, we unveil our new platform for the people of Osun State. From Osun West to Osun East, Osun Central, Igbomina, Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede, and beyond, this is our party, our platform for victory in August next year.
“The people of Osun voted for good governance in 2022, and they will support continuity in 2026. The masses are for sustained progress, and Accord Party is our vehicle for that victory. In line with the wishes of our stakeholders and in deep respect for the people of Osun, I hereby officially declare my alignment with the Accord Party,” Governor Adeleke concluded.
