Chairmen Bappa Shinge of Auyo Local Government Area (LGA), Bala Usman-Chamo of Dutse LGA, Ahmed Rufa’i of Gumel LGA, and Shehu Sule-Udi of Ringim LGA in Jigawa state, who were suspended by the state house of assembly on March 6 for alleged misconduct, negligence, and improper use of public funds as found by the Committee on Local Government during its oversight visit, have now been reinstated.
The state house established an ad hoc committee to investigate the suspended council chairmen. Acting Chairman Aminu Zakari presented the committee’s report, which detailed 11 findings and observations from their investigation.
Zakari reported that the committee meticulously reviewed various documents, including reports from consultants of each LGA. They also examined documents submitted by the suspended chairmen in their defense and considered their appeals. Based on their findings, the committee formulated 11 recommendations.
A significant recommendation was to issue a stern warning to the reinstated chairmen, advising them to conduct their administrative and financial responsibilities with ethics and propriety.
After the report presentation, the house conducted a voice vote on the reinstatement of the chairmen. With the majority in favor, Speaker Haruna Aliyu announced the immediate reinstatement of the four chairmen.
