Jigawa Government Lifts Suspension Of Commissioner Accused Of Adultery
Jigawa Government Lifts Suspension Of Commissioner Accused Of AdulteryThe Jigawa State Government has reinstated Auwalu Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties, following his exoneration by a Kano Upper Shari’a Court on allegations of adultery. The court, led by Judge Ibrahim Sarki Yola, dismissed the case filed by Nasiru Buba, who had accused Sankara of having an illicit affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.
In his ruling, Judge Sarki Yola stressed the importance of thorough and careful investigations by law enforcement and agencies such as the Hisbah Commission when handling such sensitive matters. He also highlighted the need to handle allegations against public figures with caution to avoid damaging their reputations unjustly.
The court pointed out that the complainant and his legal team failed to appear for the hearing, and the police’s investigation did not support the claims made against Sankara.
On Tuesday, Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi announced the immediate lifting of Sankara’s suspension, following his acquittal. A statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa, Malam Bala Ibrahim, confirmed the decision, noting that the suspension had been initially imposed due to the adultery allegations reported to the Kano State Hisbah Board.
The statement concluded by confirming that Sankara has been directed to resume his duties.
