Ibrahim Hannungiwa, the Commissioner for Water Resources, revealed this information in Dutse on Wednesday.

He emphasized that the government has taken proactive measures to maintain its status as an Open Defecation Free (ODF) state, ensuring the sustainability of this achievement.

Hannungiwa added that a committee has been established to determine the strategies for preserving the ODF status. Additionally, they will provide more high-standard public restrooms in public areas.

Jigawa is the first and only state in Nigeria to receive recognition from UNICEF as an Open Defecation Free state. Furthermore, the state governor, Umar Namadi, has been designated as an ODF Ambassador by the United Nations Agency.
