The Nigerian Association of Patent Proprietary Medicine Dealers had sought court intervention to prevent their forced relocation from their registered business premises in Sabon Gari. However, Justice Simon Amobeda ruled that the case lacked merit, asserting that the plaintiffs had no standing to challenge the relocation order issued by the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria, the authorized regulatory body.

In a joint statement by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), the directive aims to curb the distribution of substandard and falsified medicines in the state. The statement warns manufacturers, importers, medical representatives, and distributors to immediately cease supplying pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and other regulated products to facilities in Niger Street, Sabon Gari Market, or any location outside the Coordinated Wholesale Centre in Dangwauro, Kano.

The statement emphasizes that non-compliance puts companies at risk of losing both their site license and product license.
