Joshua Vs Fury Fight In Trouble? Fury Raises Fresh Concerns Over Proposed Venue

Tyson Fury has raised fresh concerns about his highly anticipated clash with fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, suggesting the fight could fall through because of an ongoing dispute over the proposed venue.

The two boxing stars had been expected to face each other in November in what would be one of the biggest bouts in British boxing history. However, negotiations have reportedly hit another stumbling block over where the showdown should be held.

Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, are pushing for the fight to take place in the United Kingdom, citing a previous understanding between the parties.

Saudi organisers and other stakeholders, however, are reportedly favouring Madison Square Garden in New York as the venue for the blockbuster encounter.

Fury addressed the situation on Instagram on Friday, August 21, blaming Joshua and Hearn for the uncertainty surrounding the proposed fight.

He said, “Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen all because Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua want more money.”

Hearn has argued that moving the fight to the United States could have major tax implications for Joshua, potentially reducing the amount the former world champion would take home compared with a UK-based bout.

Fury reacted strongly to the position, describing Joshua and Hearn as “disgusting” and “money-thirsty.” He also questioned Joshua’s willingness to face him in the ring.

He added, “I’ll move on and fight somebody else, but just know you never had the guts to fight Tyson Fury, ever.”

Although the proposed fight is expected to be broadcast on Netflix, there was still no final agreement on the venue as of Friday.

Despite Fury’s comments, Hearn has maintained that negotiations are ongoing and insisted that Joshua remains committed to making the long-awaited fight happen.
