In a significant development for the Nigerian judiciary, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), the National Judicial Council (NJC), the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and other key stakeholders have endorsed a 300% increase in the salaries and allowances of judges.
This move aims to enhance the welfare of judicial officers and improve the efficiency and integrity of the judiciary. The decision has been met with widespread approval within the legal community, who have long advocated for better remuneration for judges to reflect their critical role in upholding justice and the rule of law.
Ministerial nominee Lateef Fagbemi emphasized the necessity of the pay hike, stating that it is crucial for maintaining the independence and morale of the judiciary.
